Kambako Living Museum
Kambako is a living museum of bushcraft founded in 2011 by Julius Matshuve, located just outside the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in south-eastern Zimbabwe. The name "Kambako" is the local Shangaan word for "old bull elephant," chosen to evoke wisdom and guidance. The museum is dedicated to preserving the traditional skills and cultural knowledge of the Shangaan people — hunter-gatherers whose lifestyle is demonstrated through hands-on activities including fire-making by friction, water divining, bow-and-arrow making, iron smelting, clay pot making, trap-making, and basket weaving. Run under the auspices of the Malilangwe Trust, Kambako also forms part of the trust's conservation education curriculum for schools and is a popular excursion for guests staying at Singita Pamushana Lodge.
