Buxton National Historic Site & Museum
The Buxton National Historic Site and Museum is a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom location, preserving the history of the Elgin (Buxton) Settlement founded in 1849. The site tells the story of one of the most successful planned settlements of formerly enslaved people in pre-Civil War North America.
