Centennial Conservatory
The City of Thunder Bay's Centennial Botanical Conservatory is a multi-functional facility - a community gathering space home to a large variety of flowers, trees, tropical plants and cacti, as well as a production facility where plants for city-owned flower pots and gardens are grown over the winter and spring. Originally opened in 1967 as a Centennial project, the Conservatory was designed by famous American architects Lord & Burnham and features 18 tons of glass and steel incorporated with 3 tons of local Amethyst and granite. Following extensive renewal and expansion, the Conservatory reopened in early 2026.
