Christ Church Community Museum

Christ Church Community Museum is housed in an 1853 Anglican church in the village of Lakefield, Ontario — known as the "Cradle of Canadian Literature" — and operated seasonally by community volunteers. Its collections highlight the history of the church and 1855 burial grounds, the Strickland family, and Lakefield's literary heritage tied to Susanna Moodie, Catharine Parr Traill, Isabella Valancy Crawford and Margaret Laurence, alongside pictorial displays of late-1800s Lakefield. Visitors can pick up a Walking Tour of Historic Lakefield handout to extend the literary experience.
