Mattawa Museum

The Mattawa Museum tells the stories of the land where two rivers meet — the Ottawa and Mattawa — in Northern Ontario. Located on traditional unceded Algonquin territory, the museum explores the region's rich layered history including Indigenous heritage, the fur trade, pioneer lumbering, local characters, veterans, and community life. Highlights include exhibits on Big Joe Mufferaw (a local folk hero), Anahareo (Métis activist), the Brent Meteor Crater, and the Mattawa Health Hub. The museum also features a gift shop, genealogy resources, and an active calendar of events including murder mystery evenings.
