McDougall Mill Museum (Renfrew and District Historical and Museum Society)

The McDougall Mill Museum in Renfrew, Ontario, occupies a historic mill building in the picturesque O'Brien Park, situated on traditional Algonquin territory beside the second chute of the Bonnechere River and near Renfrew's iconic Swinging Bridge. Three packed floors of artifacts celebrate Renfrew and District's rich history, from its original Algonquin inhabitants and early lumber-era settlers to the town's industrial heyday — when Renfrew was home to Renfrew Electric (Canadian Beauty Appliances), the Renfrew Refrigerator Company, Renfrew Machinery Acorn Stoves, Renfrew Flour Mills, and the Renfrew Creamery. The museum also honours Charlotte Whitton, Ottawa's first female mayor, who was born here. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
