Centrale Galerie Powerhouse
La Centrale galerie Powerhouse is an artist-run centre dedicated to the dissemination and development of multidisciplinary feminist practices. Founded with its first exhibition in May-June 1973 and incorporated on May 24, 1974 as Galerie et atelier la Centrale Électrique / Powerhouse Gallery & Studio, the gallery champions women and gender minorities in Montreal's contemporary art scene. It administers the Prix Powerhouse, a $10,000 biennial award shared between two mid-career Montreal artists who contribute significantly to the city's cultural life.
