Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site in the St. Lawrence River archipelago served as Canada's main immigration gateway and quarantine station for the Port of Quebec from 1832 to 1937. The island invites visitors to explore the experiences of thousands of immigrants through historic buildings, the Celtic Cross, the Irish Cemetery, and costumed interpretation programmes.
