Cité de l'Or, La

La Cité de l'Or in Val-d'Or, Québec is the only historic site in Canada to take visitors deep into the workings of a former gold mine — descending some 300 feet (91 m) into the underground galleries of the historic Lamaque mine. Above ground, guided and self-guided tours explore the four heritage buildings of the former Lamaque mining complex and the still-inhabited Bourlamaque mining village, complemented by the permanent exhibition "De l'or plein les veines", an immersive video circuit, the historic "Chez-nous à Bourlamaque" house and a collection of rare minerals.
