Museo Comunale d'Arte Moderna Ascona

Museo Comunale d'Arte Moderna di Ascona is one of the oldest public art museums in Canton Ticino, founded in 1922. Located on Via Borgo in the lakeside town of Ascona on Lago Maggiore, the museum holds the civic art collections of the City of Ascona and is complemented by the nearby Museo Castello San Materno (opened 2014), which together form the Musei Comunali d'Arte di Ascona. The collections span modern and contemporary Swiss and international art, with strong ties to the artistic communities that gathered in Ascona in the early 20th century. The museum also houses the Fondazione Alten collection and offers virtual tours, an educational programme, and a regular schedule of temporary exhibitions.
