Augusta Raurica
Augusta Raurica is one of the most important Roman archaeological sites in Switzerland, on the south bank of the Rhine about 20 kilometres east of Basel. The site features the best-preserved ancient theatre north of the Alps, the longest accessible Roman sewer, a Roman house, protected monuments, an animal park celebrating biodiversity and a museum that displays the site's renowned Kaiseraugst silver treasure. Managed by the Canton of Basel-Landschaft, it combines experience, preservation and research.
