Historisches Museum Basel – Musikmuseum

The Musikmuseum is part of the Basel Historical Museum (HMB) and holds Switzerland's largest collection of musical instruments, with over 3,300 objects including approximately 650 European instruments spanning five centuries. The museum is housed in a former prison (1835–1995) within the historic Lohnhof complex, dating back to the St. Leonhard's Convent from around 1060–1070. Each of the 24 former prison cells serves as a showcase, with interactive screens providing music samples and additional information. One admission ticket grants access to all three HMB sites for seven days.
