Mazzini-Gedenkstätte

The Mazzini-Gedenkstätte (Mazzini Memorial) in Grenchen, Switzerland, commemorates Giuseppe Mazzini (1805–1872), the Italian nationalist revolutionary who spent time in the Bachtelenbad as a visitor and conspirator. Opened on 17 November 1991, the memorial is housed in the historic Girardhaus, the main building of the Sonderpädagogisches Zentrum Bachtelen. The room that Mazzini used as a meeting and consultation space during his stay has been preserved as a small museum, presenting his biography chronologically through period engravings and information panels. The collection is supplemented by writings by and about Mazzini and the Risorgimento era. The memorial is managed by the Mazzini Foundation.
