Heimatmuseum Obersimmental

Open since July 1983 in a 17th-century house in Zweisimmen, the Heimatmuseum Obersimmental is the only museum of its kind in the region. Most objects are displayed openly throughout the building rather than in cases, giving visitors the feel of a lived-in house. Highlights include the 1856 church-tower clock, a large 'Küchenstübli', Blankenburger tile stoves and ceramics, an upper-floor cobbler's workshop and an 18th-century bedroom. A medieval medicinal-plant garden surrounds the museum, with rotating annual special exhibitions and a children's quiz led by 'Saani the goat'.
