Bergwerkmuseum Herznach

Bergwerk Herznach in the Fricktal is a former iron-ore mine that operated from 1937 to 1967 and is now run as a visitor mine and museum by the Verein Bergwerk Herznach. Tours start at the silo with an introduction to the mine's geology and 160-million-year-old fossils, then take visitors by mine train into the historic galleries; a fossil-hammering area and a special exhibition "From Iron Ore to Steel" round out the experience.
