MUSEO DE ÁVILA

The Museo de Avila occupies two historic buildings in the walled city of Avila, Castilla y Leon. Its principal home is the Casa de los Deanes, a fine 16th-century Renaissance palace with an Italian-style galleried courtyard, and a secondary site is the Almacen Visitable in the 12th-century Romanesque church of Santo Tome. The museum's wide-ranging collections document the material culture of the Avila province from prehistory to the modern era, drawing on major donations from private collectors as well as decades of local archaeological excavations.
