Museo Casa Botines Gaudí
Museo Casa Botines is housed in one of the few buildings outside Catalonia designed by Antoni Gaudí. The neo-Gothic palace was built between 1891 and 1894 for businessmen Simón Fernández and Mariano Andrés in the city of León, and takes its name from a previous owner, Joan Homs i Botinàs. After serving as a bank for decades, the building was fully restored and opened as a museum in 2017. The permanent collection, known as FUNDOS, presents works from the collection of the Caja España-Duero foundation, including Spanish paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum also features an exhibition dedicated to Gaudí himself, with original documents, drawings, and the architect's original project plans discovered during restoration works. Beneath the building, visitors can explore the original basement where Gaudí's rolled architectural drawings were found sealed inside a lead capsule.
