MUSEO DEL COBRE
The Museo del Cobre in Obejo, Cordoba, is housed in the former Civil Guard barracks and is dedicated to over 4,000 years of copper mining and metallurgy in the Cerro Muriano area. Exhibits cover the Chalcolithic origins of mining in the 3rd millennium BC, the intensive Roman exploitation of hydrothermal veins from the 1st century BC to 37 AD, and the revival of the industry by British companies in the 19th century, notably the Cordoba Copper Company Ltd. The museum also holds a permanent exhibition on Robert Capa's celebrated photographic series from Cerro Muriano on 5 September 1936, including a copy of the iconic Falling Soldier photograph taken just 500 metres away.
