Juhani Aho Museum
The Juhani Aho Museum, set in a historic parsonage at Koljonvirta in Iisalmi, commemorates Finland's first professional writer and sixteen-time Nobel Prize candidate, Juhani Aho (1861–1921). The main exhibition guides visitors through Aho's childhood home and explores how his upbringing influenced his literary legacy. The museum sits on the Koljonvirta battlefield (Finnish War 1808–1809), and a 1.5 km outdoor history trail marks battle positions and the lives of soldiers. Changing exhibitions delve deeper into the era and Aho's impact on Finnish literature and society.
