Degerby Igor museum

The Igor Museum in Degerby tells the story of the "Porkkala Parenthesis" — the period from 1944 to 1956 when the Porkkala area in southern Finland was leased to the Soviet Union as a military base, forcing about 7,000 residents to evacuate within ten days. Through artefacts, photographs, and personal stories, the museum brings to life the experience of displacement and the eventual return of the inhabitants. It is located in the heart of Degerby village and forms part of the local heritage offering.
