Instituto Butantan - Museu de Saúde Pública Emílio Ribas

The Museu de Saúde Pública Emílio Ribas (MUSPER), part of Instituto Butantan, is housed in the historic Desinfectório Central building in São Paulo's Bom Retiro neighbourhood. Built in 1893, this landmark building served as a central disinfection station during the early Public Health Service era and is one of the few surviving 19th-century public health structures in São Paulo. The collection includes over 1,500 objects, a library of approximately 35,000 volumes, and 1,260 linear metres of archival documents covering public health, epidemiology, and preventive medicine from 1880 to 2008.
