The New Zealand Cartoon and Comics Archive is part of the Alexander Turnbull Library and contains cartoons from the 19th century to the present, and a growing collection of comic art, by cartoonists and comic artists born or based in Aotearoa. This includes cartoonists and comics creators from Aotearoa who are working internationally. We also collect material relating to creators’ lives, such as their personal papers, preparatory work, and/or or photographs. The scope of the new, expanded Archive includes cartoons and comics addressing a wide range of social, cultural, and political perspectives, reflecting a wide range of art forms and styles, and includes online publications and original artwork.
