The Arts House Trust
The Arts House Trust is housed in the historic Pah Homestead within Monte Cecilia Park. Hosted on-site is a regular rotation of art exhibitions, concerts, community events and artist markets. The on-site café offers covered verandah seating with views overlooking our Sculpture Garden and One Tree Hill. The Gallery Shop exclusively features the work of Aotearoa artists, providing wonderful options for unique gifts. The centre hosts a changing programme of free exhibitions curated from both the collection as well as regional touring exhibitions. The Trust has one of the most extensive collections of contemporary New Zealand art, number over 9,500. The stunning heritage building, Pah Homestead, was built between 1877 and 1879 and was restored to its former glory in a restoration project that won the Heritage and Conservation Award at the NZIA Local Architecture Awards in 2010. Built in the style of Italianate architecture, the interior features include marble fireplaces, parquet floors, stained glass and elaborate plaster ceilings and cornices.
