Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Sul

The Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Sul (IHGRGS) is a non-profit scientific and cultural association founded on August 5, 1920 in Porto Alegre. It conducts research in history, geography, archaeology, literature, linguistics, and cultural heritage, with particular focus on Rio Grande do Sul. The organization maintains extensive collections including personal and institutional archives, a library with approximately 100,000 titles, musical scores, newspapers, and maps.
