The Instituto Nacional da Mata Atlântica (INMA), also known as the Museu de Biologia Professor Mello Leitão, is a research and conservation institution focused on the Atlantic Forest biome. It maintains extensive biological collections including 53,000 botanical records and 125,000 zoological specimens, with the oldest plant collections dating to 1950 and vertebrate collections beginning in 1940. The institute offers guided visits to its zoobotanical park, educational programs, and research facilities.
