Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site
Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site in the Drumheller Valley preserves the last wooden coal tipple standing in Canada and the stories of the region's gritty coal-mining past. The mine operated from 1936 until 1984 and reopened to the public as a historic site in 1987. Today the locally operated, visitor-supported site welcomes more than 20,000 guests each year and offers self-guided site admission plus guided tours including a train ride, processing plant tour and mine portal hike.
