The original Verbena Dormitory is now home to the Danish Canadian National Museum & Gardens. Tour our exhibits celebrating the contribution of Danish immigrants to Canada including: Immigrant Room, HC Andersen Room, Heritage Room, Dormitory Room and Closet Dane (wheelchair/walker accessible display). Stroll our pathways, hike our walking trails and picnic on the grounds by the man-made lake - surrounded by traditional Danish gardens.
Enjoy Danish Smørrebrød in the “Living History” Dormitory Coffee House and browse the Gift Shop featuring items from Denmark, local crafters and authors. Pay a visit to the Dagmar Pioneer Church, step back in time at the Thomsen Pioneer Cabin (circa 1929), play in the Children’s Garden of Imagination, step into Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales, cross the Danish Brick Bridge past the Dolmen (Stendysse), and experience the “Freydis Joanna” – an authentic replica Gokstadfæring Viking Ship (circa 850 AD). And catch a glimpse of a Viking!
