Museo Amaro Lucano

Essenza Lucano is an immersive, multisensory museum experience in Pisticci, Basilicata, dedicated to the history and craft of Amaro Lucano — one of Italy's iconic digestifs. The visit unfolds across five thematic chapters: Lucania (the land), Lucano (the producing family and their legacy), Amaro (the liqueur itself), Storia (history of the brand), and Pacchiana (traditional Lucanian culture). Visitors explore an herb garden featuring the very botanicals used in the Amaro recipe, then move through the Fabbrica exhibition space tracing the company's story from its origins. Guided tours last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and are bookable by reservation (max 30 participants); an extended version adding a tour of Antonio Poe's street art mural "Progetto Essenza" runs approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The Bottega shop and cocktail bar offer product tastings, gift sets and espresso; additional retail is available in Matera and online.
