Museo Civico di Altomonte
Museo Civico di Altomonte was established in 1980 by the municipal administration of Altomonte, a historic hill town in Calabria, and is housed in a former Dominican convent. The museum documents the cultural identity and history of Altomonte through works gathered from several of the town's churches and religious complexes: paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts from the Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, the Dominican Monastery complex, the Church of San Francesco di Paola, and the Church of San Giacomo Apostolo. The conversion of the convent into a museum space provides a fitting architectural context for the ecclesiastical art it preserves.
