Museo Diocesano di Santa Severina

Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra di Santa Severina is part of a cultural complex in Santa Severina, a historic hilltop town in the province of Crotone, Calabria, that also includes the Archivio Storico and the Biblioteca of the Archdiocese of Crotone–Santa Severina. The museum preserves sacred art from the churches of the archdiocese, including works associated with Santa Severina's remarkable Byzantine heritage — the town has an exceptional Norman-Byzantine cathedral and a rare circular baptistery of early medieval origin. The museum's research projects include studies of cathedral treasuries across the archdiocese, illuminated manuscripts, the history of the Inquisition in the territory, and programmes connecting visual art with community identity.
