Castello Barbarossa

Castello Barbarossa is a historic medieval castle perched atop the island of Capri, acquired by author Axel Munthe in 1899–1904 to protect migratory birds from trapping. Today it houses an ornithological ringing station established in 1959, operated by the Ornithological Ringing Centre in Bologna, and is a key research facility for studying migratory birds between Africa and Northern Europe.
