Lawrence House Museum
Lawrence House Museum in Maitland, Nova Scotia, is a National Historic Site of Canada celebrating the legacy of William D. Lawrence, who built the largest wooden sailing ship ever constructed in Canada — the 2,459-tonne W.D. Lawrence, launched in 1874. The museum is housed in his former home and tells the story of Lawrence, his extraordinary shipbuilding achievement, and the wider history of Nova Scotia's golden age of sail. The house itself is a fine example of Victorian domestic architecture, and is furnished to reflect life in the mid-to-late 19th century.
