Ecomuseo della Valle delle Orchidee e delle Antiche Coltivazioni di Sassano

The Ecomuseo della Valle delle Orchidee e delle Antiche Coltivazioni di Sassano is comprised of three sections: an indoor archive holding botanical research, herbaria, a germplasm bank for native cultivars and a herbarium of dried specimens; an itinerant collection of fresh and dried biodiversity samples from the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park; and a "living" section spanning the 47 km² Valley of the Orchids itself with fields managed by the Network of Custodian Farmers. Since 1996 it has run guided tours and herborisation walks along the valley's trails, and hosts the regional G.I.R.O.S. and A.I.F.F. branches.
