Giardino della Minerva, Salerno

The Giardino della Minerva in Salerno is a historic medicinal-plant garden traditionally regarded as the first European botanical garden, founded in connection with the Schola Medica Salernitana and the work of Matteo Silvatico. Today it preserves the principles of the Salernitan medical-therapeutic doctrine through living plant collections (Simplicia), a tisaneria, a library, an Index Seminum and educational programmes, managed by the Associazione Culturale Erchemperto and Hortus Magnus.
