Mav - Museo Archeologico Virtuale Ercolano
The MAV – Museo Archeologico Virtuale (Virtual Archaeological Museum) is a cutting-edge cultural technology centre located steps from the ancient ruins of Herculaneum, near Naples. Through cinematic scenic reconstructions, visual interfaces, and holograms, the museum transports visitors back to the moments before the devastating Plinian eruption of 79 AD that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum. Interactive and multimedia exhibits allow visitors to experience ancient Roman life in a playful, educational way. The MAV is recognised as one of Italy's most innovative museums for the application of digital technology to cultural heritage, and welcomes schools, families, and groups.
