Constitution Hill
Constitution Hill is a former prison and military fort complex in Johannesburg that bears testament to South Africa's turbulent past. Today the site operates as a museum and is home to the country's Constitutional Court. Notable historical figures including Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Luthuli, and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela were once imprisoned at the site, which now functions as a living memorial to the journey to democracy.
