Museo Diocesano di Amalfi, orario di apertura

Museo Diocesano di Amalfi occupies the Basilica del Crocifisso, the oldest part of the Cathedral of Amalfi, and the adjacent Chiostro del Paradiso — a celebrated 13th-century Arab-Norman cloister whose interlaced arches and lush garden make it one of the most evocative medieval spaces in southern Italy. The museum preserves the Cathedral's treasury of sacred art spanning the medieval period to the modern era: illuminated manuscripts, embossed chalices, reliquaries, vestments, and carved wooden furnishings. The lapidary collection in and around the cloister includes a remarkable group of Roman sarcophagi brought from across the medieval Amalfi Republic, many with mythological reliefs. The museum also holds Romanesque sculptural fragments, episcopal furnishings from various periods, and devotional paintings from the Cathedral's chapels.
