The Avon River Heritage Society Museum interprets the history and ecology of the Avon River area of Newport Landing, West Hants, Nova Scotia. The Society tells the stories of the Mi'kmaq people, the 19th-century 'Golden Age of Sail' when the Harvie and Mosher shipyards built and launched 165 square-rigged wooden sailing ships in the region, and the karst geology, tidal ecosystems and migratory birds of the Avon River.
