Bell Island Community Museum and Mine Tour
The Bell Island No. 2 Mine Tour and Community Museum on Bell Island, Newfoundland, takes visitors deep into the iron ore mine where thousands of miners once worked nearly 5 kilometres beneath the sea, ten hours a day, six days a week. The site preserves the story of more than 70 years of mining heritage through guided underground tours led by community members, many of whom had family who worked the mines. The complex also includes a community museum, gift shop, and the Mugg Up Coffee Shop.
