Museo Municipal de Arte Juan Carlos Castagnino

The Museo Municipal de Arte Juan Carlos Castagnino is the fine arts museum of Mar del Plata, named in honour of Juan Carlos Castagnino (1908–1972), the celebrated Argentine painter and muralist born in that city. Castagnino is particularly renowned for his collaboration with David Alfaro Siqueiros on the monumental mural "Ejercicio Plástico" (1933) and for his later social realist paintings depicting the lives of ordinary Argentines. The museum houses a collection of Argentine and international artworks and hosts a programme of temporary exhibitions, cultural activities, and events for the city's public.
