Museo de Güemes

The Museo de Güemes in Salta is dedicated to the life and legacy of General Martín Miguel de Güemes (1785–1821), the great gaucho military leader who organised the "Gaucho War" and defended northwestern Argentina from royalist forces during the Wars of Independence. Located at España 730 in Salta's historic centre, the museum preserves documents, artefacts, uniforms, portraits, and personal objects relating to Güemes and the independence era, offering visitors a deep engagement with this formative period of Argentine history. The museum also runs an educational itinerant programme that brings Güemes's story to audiences throughout the country.
