Yamagata Prefecture Hometown Pavilion(Bunsyokan)

The Former Prefectural Office and Former Assembly Hall were constructed in an English Neo-Renaissance style in 1916, and were used until 1975. In 1984 they were designated as the National Important Cultural Properties of Japan. After ten long years of restorative construction efforts, the Former Prefectural Office and Former Assembly Hall were re-opened as The Yamagata Prefecture Hometown Pavilion “Bunsyōkan” in 1995, to preserve two buildings and to promote the culture of Yamagata Prefecture.
