Museo de Farmacobotánica Juan A. Domínguez

Founded in 1900 by pharmacist Juan Aníbal Domínguez, the Museo de Farmacobotánica Juan A. Domínguez at the Universidad de Buenos Aires is one of Argentina's oldest and most distinctive specialised museums. Established from Domínguez's own field collections gathered while cataloguing Argentina's medicinal plant heritage, the museum is now based within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at Junín 956. Its collections encompass herbaria, zoological and anthropological specimens, archival material, historic pharmaceutical instruments, and displays covering the history of medicinal plants — from everyday remedies to magical uses, spices, fungi, toxicology, and the beloved Argentine yerba mate. The museum is open to the public for visits and research consultations, and hosts seminars, the Noche de los Museos, and science week events.
