Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos

Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos (former ESMA) is a memorial site and cultural space in Buenos Aires that occupies the former Naval Mechanics School, a clandestine detention, torture and extermination centre during Argentina's last military dictatorship. Today it is open to the community to preserve memory and to promote and defend human rights through exhibitions, guided tours, education programmes, archives and a book fair. The Museo Sitio de Memoria ESMA on the grounds is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
