Heeresgeschichtliches Museum/ Militärhistorisches Institut Wien
The Heeresgeschichtliches Museum (Museum of Military History) in Vienna is the historical museum of the Austrian Federal Armed Forces, housed in the Arsenal complex in the third district. Its galleries trace Austrian military and political history from the Thirty Years' War through Maria Theresa, the Napoleonic era, the Revolutions of 1848, the Franz Joseph period, the Sarajevo assassination and the First World War, with state rooms such as the Hall of Glory and the Radetzky Hall complementing a major tank hall and outdoor displays. The museum is currently in a phase of reorganisation, with several halls temporarily closed for renovation while the core 1600–1956 collections are restructured.
