Bezirksmuseum Hietzing

The Bezirksmuseum Hietzing documents Vienna's 13th district as a "villa quarter," with notable exhibits including the oldest evidence of human settlement in the Vienna area (charred bone fragments from c. 20,000 BC), the famous Ethiopia collection of African researcher Friedrich J. Bieber, a typewriter from the estate of Nobel laureate Bertha von Suttner, and an original costume from the Makart Festival Procession marking the 1879 silver wedding anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth. The museum is located in a historicist-style building on the site of a former village school.
