Benediktinerstift Melk - Stiftssammlungen

Stift Melk is a Baroque Benedictine abbey founded in 1089 on a hill above the Danube in the Wachau region. Visitors tour the former Imperial guest rooms, the Marble Hall, a balcony with sweeping Danube views, and the Abbey Library with its more than 100,000 books including 1,800 manuscripts. The complex also features the Baroque abbey church, the abbey park with garden pavilion and Northern bastion, special exhibitions, and the abbey museum.
