Franz Xaver Gruber Gedächtnishaus

The Franz Xaver Gruber Gedächtnishaus in Hochburg-Ach commemorates the composer of "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht" (Silent Night), born nearby on 25 November 1787. A more than 200-year-old wooden house, identical in style to Gruber's birthplace, was relocated here in 1976 and arranged as a museum showing rural living and working life of the period. Highlights include the loom on which Gruber learned the weaver's trade, with guided tours covering his life and the song's origins.
