Gsellmann Weltmaschine

The Gsellmann Weltmaschine is a unique kinetic folk-art creation built by farmer Franz Gsellmann between 1958 and 1981 inside a small room of his farmhouse in Kaag, Edelsbach, Styria. Inspired by the Brussels Atomium, Gsellmann assembled motors, lights, gondolas, mills, bells and countless small figures into a single, ever-moving "world machine" that he refused to sell. Now operated by the Gsellmann family as a visitor attraction in Austrian Styria, it remains one of the country's most distinctive examples of outsider art and mechanical sculpture.
