Archäologisches Museum Lavant
The Archäologisches Museum Lavant is located in the basement of the Aufbahrungshalle at the foot of the Kirchbichl and displays part of the municipality's antiquities collection alongside finds from decades of excavations. Holdings range from Bronze Age storage-vessel pottery (c. 1600 BCE), an Urnfield period Lappenbeil, and North African import ceramics, to a substantial Late Antique assemblage from the 3rd–6th centuries CE including original Roman marble stones and a large piece of high-quality raw iron. Younger finds include 15th-century Gothic frescoes from the St. Ulrich parish church; a number of originals are housed at Schloss Bruck in Lienz, with reproductions shown on-site.
